Houston Center for Contemporary Craft is pleased to host the second annual ClayHouston Festival, where festival goers can get up close and personal with art created solely from clay. Attendees can browse and purchase artworks ranging from unique mugs for morning coffee to one-of-a-kind figurative sculptures that splash living rooms with panache and humor. The 18 potters and sculptors who will be exhibiting their work were selected from applicants within a 150-mile radius of Houston by Dennis Smith, longtime head of ceramics at San Antonio's Southwest School of Art and Craft.
Several artists will conduct demonstrations such as wheel throwing and sculpting and discuss their individual approaches and techniques for creating ceramic art. The Festival will also have a Kids' Table where children can make their own objects. Discounts will be offered to parents who choose to have their children's pieces fired in a kiln at one of Houston's clay studios.
For more information about the Festival, call 713-263-1919.

Demonstrations were held both days for the public.
